Dan Jones has agreed a one-year contract extension with Chesterfield.
The 28-year-old, who joined the Spireites from Port Vale in 2014, was due to become a free agent at the end of the season.
However, following discussions, the left-back has now signed a new deal that will run until the summer of 2017.
"I'm delighted. I had a good pre-season this year and I've really been able to buy into what the new manager (Dean Saunders) has brought to the club," he told the club's official website.
"I love his enthusiasm, the way he goes about things and I think there's a lot to learn from him."
To date, Jones has made 37 appearances for the League One club.
