Crewe Alexandra keen to re-sign Alan Tate

Crewe manager Steve Davis hopes to extend Alan Tate's loan from Swansea until the end of the season.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is hopeful that he can re-sign Swansea City veteran Alan Tate on loan for the rest of the season.

The 31-year-old's 93-day emergency loan is scheduled to expire this weekend and, despite not playing since October due to injury, Davis is keen for the defender to stay at Gresty Road.

"Alan has done well when he has played and he has been fantastic around the place," he told Sky Sports News.

"He has great experience and the boys look up to him and have learnt a great deal from him.

"He has had a positive affect around the place and he has fitted in really well. I'm sure he has thoroughly enjoyed himself and it is something we will consider doing again in January."

Tate has played just six games for Crewe since joining back in September.
