Crystal Palace struggling for strikers ahead of Chelsea clash

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew places Chelsea as favourites for their Premier League meeting this weekend due to his shortage of options in the final third of the field.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has revealed that he is struggling for strikers ahead of his team's Premier League clash against Chelsea this weekend.

Palace will enter Sunday's match 11 points above the reigning champions in the Premier League table.

Pardew, however, has placed the Blues as favourites for the clash this weekend due to his lack of options in the final third of the field.

Bakary Sako, Dwight Gayle, Connor Wickham and Yannick Bolasie will all be missing for the capital side, while Patrick Bamford has cut his loan spell short.

"Team news as much as it was against Swansea, we're without Sako, Gayle, Wickham, Bolasie and [Yohan] Cabaye," Pardew told reporters.

"With the bodies we have available I'm confident but Chelsea looked more assured against Manchester United so they're favourites. The foundation of Chelsea's team is a bit better now, they have two deeper-lying midfielders. They have great players."

Pardew also revealed that he will attempt to sign a new striker in January.
