Frank de Boer: 'Crystal Palace job is not a stepping stone'

Frank de Boer insists that he is not using the Crystal Palace job as a stepping stone after signing a three-year contract.

Frank de Boer has insisted that he is not using Crystal Palace as a stepping stone to another job in the future.

The 46-year-old, who won four Eredivisie titles during his time as Ajax manager, was unveiled by the Eagles as their new boss at a press conference on Monday.

De Boer has penned a three-year contract, which he intends to see out at Selhurst Park.

"No, I don't want to think about [stepping stones]," De Boer told reporters. "I am focusing on this job right now and what happens in the future is not important.

"I want to concentrate on making Crystal Palace a very solid Premier League club. That is my only concern. What time will bring, we will see.

"For me, I want to stay. I signed for three years so normally I want to stay for three years - that means it would be going well. I think every manager who steps [into a new job] thinks the same - I am confident in my team around me and the players we can build a solid club with this organisation and the people around us."

De Boer's first Premier League game in charge of Palace will be at home to newly-promoted Huddersfield Town on August 12.
