Tim Sherwood 'favourite to land Crystal Palace job'

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood emerges as the new favourite to take charge of Crystal Palace after Malky Mackay was ruled out of the running.

Tim Sherwood has emerged as the new favourite to replace Tony Pulis as manager of Crystal Palace.

Former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay was expected to land the job until last night, when news emerged that the Eagles had opted to look elsewhere.

Palace are thought to have withdrawn a firm offer of employment after Cardiff owner Vincent Tan submitted a dossier of alleged misconduct regarding Mackay to the Football Association.

Another of the candidates for the Selhurst Park hotseat, Glenn Hoddle, ruled himself out of the running earlier this week to concentrate on his new role at Queens Park Rangers.

Sky Sports News claims that Sherwood, who spent five months in charge of Tottenham Hotspur last season, is now the man most likely to be handed the role at Palace.
