Crystal Palace are close to striking an agreement over a new contract for their 20-year-old winger Michael Olise, according to a report.

Crystal Palace have moved closer to striking an agreement over a new contract for their winger Michael Olise, according to a report.

The Frenchman only joined the Eagles on a five-year contract from Championship side Reading last summer, but following reports that the 20-year-old's deal includes a £35m release clause, the club have become keen to secure his future in South London.

Olise has impressed in his debut campaign in the Premier League, having scored four goals and registered eight assists in 31 appearances across all competitions since Palace triggered his £8m release clause last summer.

As a result of his form this year, the Palace hierarchy, and their supporters, have become concerned over the release clause included within his current contract, but The Athletic are reporting that a new deal is close to being agreed.

The report suggests that the new deal would only add a further 12 months to his current stay, tying him down at Selhurst Park until 2027, but would significantly increase the clause to a level that would see Palace receive a record transfer fee were it triggered.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's £50m move to Manchester United is the current record fee received by Patrick Vieira's side, and were Olise's new contract to be agreed, an interested club would have to eclipse the fee paid by the Red Devils for their former full-back.

The report continues with how Olise is keen to stay at Palace, and with no interest in seeing his salary increased, an agreement is close to being struck.
