Victor Sanchez leaves Deportivo La Coruna

Victor Sanchez leaves his position as manager of Deportivo La Coruna despite securing another season of La Liga football.

Deportivo La Coruna have announced that Victor Sanchez has left his position as head coach of the Spanish club.

Sanchez took control of the Galicians in April 2015 and steered the club to safety on their return to La Liga, before securing a 15th-place finish in Spain's top flight during the 2015-16 campaign.

Deportivo have decided to seek new direction, however, and Sanchez, who made more than 200 appearances for the club between 1999 and 2006, has officially departed.

The Spanish outfit won La Liga in the 1999-2000 season and finished second, second, third and third in their next four campaigns.

However, since 2011, Deportivo have not finished higher than 15th in Spain's top flight and have spent two of their last five seasons in the Segunda Division.
