Report: Manchester United to sack Louis van Gaal and appoint Jose Mourinho

Multiple reports claim that Manchester United will sack Louis van Gaal on Monday and appoint ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

Manchester United are set to dismiss Louis van Gaal on Monday and appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager, according to reports.

Despite the Dutchman clinching his first trophy at Old Trafford on Saturday after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in the FA Cup final, the club hierarchy is thought to have decided that a change is required.

According to BBC Sport, it is believed that a deal with Mourinho was agreed in principle prior to the Wembley showpiece, while Sky Sports News claims that Jorge Mendes, his agent, is due to fly to England from China on Tuesday to negotiate a deal.

The 53-year-old Portuguese has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea last November after overseeing the Blues' worst start to a Premier League campaign.
