Derby County's Paul Clement "satisfied" with opening-day point

Derby County boss Paul Clement reveals that he was pleased to earn a point in his first competitive match as the club's manager against Bolton Wanderers.

Derby County boss Paul Clement has admitted that he was "satisfied" to take a point from his first competitive game in charge of the club.

The Rams played out a goalless draw against Bolton Wanderers, but they were grateful to the woodwork for denying the Trotters the victory at the Macron Stadium.

Clement told the club's official website: "We are satisfied. It was a tough game, a battle, and the players showed today that they can stand up to that kind of opponent. It stands us good stead for the future. We always want to try and win but we're underway with a point.

"We are satisfied that we have come away with a clean sheet because we had to weather some really difficult periods in the game, particularly when they began to bombard us with crosses when Emile Heskey came on and they hit the crossbar three times as well.

"We had enough chances ourselves and we could have gone on and won it, especially with the counter-attack right at the end and if we had made the most of that, we would have come away with all three points."

Clement's men take on Portsmouth in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.
