Steve McClaren: "We kept our patience"

Steve McClaren salutes his team for "keeping their patience" in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth this evening.

Derby County manager Steve McClaren has praised his side for 'keeping their patience' in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth at the iPro Stadium this evening.

McClaren, who was celebrating exactly a year in charge of the Rams, saw his side secure the three points thanks to late strikes from Will Hughes and Chris Martin.

However, the game was far from easy for Derby County as they were repeatedly frustrated by Eddie Howe's side, who had goalkeeper Lee Camp sent off for deliberate handball midway through the second half.

Camp's red card proved to be the turning point in the game, and McClaren was pleased that his side stuck to their task after their opponents were reduced to 10 men.

"We kept our patience and got the breakthrough, tonight was about the result," McClaren told BBC Sport.

Derby County continue their season when they host Millwall in the Championship on Saturday.
