Darren Bent close to Derby County switch?

Derby County are reportedly close to signing Aston Villa striker Darren Bent on loan for the rest of the season.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent will reportedly hold talks with Derby County regarding a loan move for the remainder of the season.

Bent, who is out of favour at Villa Park, recently scored twice in four games during a temporary spell with Brighton & Hove Albion, and the England international had indicated that he would be open to extending his stay at the club.

However, according to BBC Radio Derby, the 30-year-old will meet with Derby head coach Steve McClaren on Friday to discuss a potential move to the iPro Stadium until May.

Bent has also been linked with a return to London with Crystal Palace.
