Dundee boss Barry Smith reveals that captain Stephen O'Donnell is facing a spell on the sidelines with a "serious" knee injury.

Dundee manager Barry Smith has revealed that captain Stephen O'Donnell could be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

The midfielder was stretchered off with a knee problem during the team's 1-1 draw with St Johnstone on Boxing Day.

"Potentially it's a serious injury but I can't say what it is until he's been checked out. But it didn't look too good," Smith told reporters.

Dundee currently sit bottom of the Scottish Premier League table.
