FIFA president Sepp Blatter thinks England has a grudge against him and football's governing body for the failed 2018 world cup bid.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has said that England and English football holds a grudge against him because of the failed vote to bring the 2018 FIFA World Cup to the country.

England gained just two votes and lost out to Russia but it has since been revealed that there were corrupt issues with the vote.

In an interview with Swiss newspaper Matin Dimanche the 75-year-old said: "The English reckoned football was to come back home. They were sure of winning [the 2018 vote] and they got two votes.

"Since then, they have been looking for any means to justify their defeat."

Blatter himself has had a torrid year with all the corrupt allegations at FIFA and recently became embroiled in the racism controversy by suggesting that there is no racism in football and that players should be able to shake hands and forget about racist jibes.

This led to criticism from many top names in the English game, including Harry Redknapp, Neil Warnock and David Beckham.
