FA chief executive Martin Glenn: 'England must be contenders for Euro 2020'

FA chief executive Martin Glenn says that England need to be contenders for the crown at Euro 2020.

Football Association chief executive Martin Glenn has claimed that England must be serious contenders for the Euro 2020 crown in four years' time.

The Three Lions disappointed in the European Championships in the summer as they were ousted in the last-16 stage by minnows Iceland.

The early exit resulted in Roy Hodgson's resignation, and now former West Ham United and Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is at the helm.

"We'll turn up to every tournament as contenders," Sky Sports News quotes Glenn as saying. "That has to be our expectation.

"You can never say you're going to win it because everybody else wants to win it too, but that is our ambition, to turn up to every tournament as a reasonable favourite, and take it from there."

Allardyce's first competitive match - a 2018 World Cup qualifier - ended in a late 1-0 win over Slovakia earlier this month.
