Roy Hodgson: 'England places are up for grabs'

England manager Roy Hodgson says that any English player that features regularly in the Premier League has a chance to earn a spot in the national side.

Roy Hodgson has said that all English players that are featuring regularly for their club have a chance to earn a call-up to the national side.

Nathaniel Clyne and Jonjo Shelvey have both been included in England's squad for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia after earning plaudits for their performances with their clubs so far this season.

The manager told the Football Association's website: "For Clyne and Shelvey who don't have a lot of experience with us, I hope that will be a guide to other players who are playing regularly.

"If they play well and produce the performances, we will see them as we watch all the matches and there are never any matches played at the weekend which either I don't see myself, or my staff don't see or get reports on.

"We have a lot of inside information to go on and we just have to make our decisions from there."

England face San Marino at Wembley next Thursday.
