Stuart Pearce admits that he is not the right man to take charge of England on a permanent basis.

England interim manager Stuart Pearce has claimed that he is not the right man to take charge of the national side for the long-term future.

Former Manchester City boss Pearce took charge of England for the first time during the 3-2 loss to Holland at Wembley on Wednesday but believes his lack of experience prevents him from being a candidate for the permanent position.

Despite admitting that he is not the man to take England forward, Pearce is confident that he can carry the team into Euro 2012.

Pearce said: "I would be confident taking the squad to the Euros, that wouldn't daunt me at all.

"I don't think after that period I have the experience for the job. All I'm doing is buying the Football Association some time.

"The full-time manager of England at this moment in time is probably somebody else, not me."

Harry Redknapp is currently favourite to be named as England's new manager.
