Roy Hodgson 'wanted by Chinese Super League clubs'

A number of Chinese Super League clubs are reportedly interested in Roy Hodgson following his resignation as England boss in the wake of their Euro 2016 exit.

Former England manager Roy Hodgson has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League following his resignation from the national team.

The 68-year-old stepped down from his role as England boss in the immediate aftermath of the team's ignominious exit from Euro 2016 at the hands of tournament debutants Iceland on Monday.

However, Eric Gao, the chief executive of the main sports agency behind the Chinese Super League, believes that Hodgson will be in high demand.

"Lots of clubs want a world-class football manager. I heard a lot of managers are not for sale here [in England] right now. I think there are many chances (for Hodgson), (Chinese clubs) would love to sign him," Gao told PA.

"He has the kind of profile that will fit a Chinese Super League club. I know a number of clubs who are wanting international investors to be their shareholders as well, something will happen very soon.

"They want to change the DNA of football, they want to get worldwide investment, bring the brand, the coach, the football manager and players systematically, not one by one but group by group."

The likes of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Luiz Felipe Scolari already manage in China.
