Steven Gerrard admits that England are capable of playing a lot better than they did against Poland.

England captain Steven Gerrard has conceded that his side were below par during this evening's World Cup qualifier away in Poland.

Despite not performing to their maximum level, the Three Lions were able to hold out for a 1-1 draw in Warsaw.

Looking ahead to the future, Gerrard is hoping that today's result will turn into a point gained.

"I think time will tell if it's a decent point," Gerrard told ITV Sport. "The lads are disappointed. We know we can play better. After taking the lead we should have seen the game out.

"We are disappointed. Our points tally could be a lot better but this is a tough place to come."

Gerrard claimed an assist for Rooney's goal that put England in front.
