The England squad and Football Association have confirmed that they will pay for the match tickets of those supporters that have stayed behind to watch this afternoon's rearranged World Cup qualifier against Poland in Warsaw.
The encounter was due to take place last night inside the city's National Stadium. However, groundstaff opted against closing the roof and as a result severe rain showers rendered the pitch waterlogged.
"The team really appreciate the support we receive away from home," said England captain Steven Gerrard. "We know that fans have spent money and taken time off work to travel to Poland and we don't take it for granted. The supporters have the complete respect of the whole squad."
It has been reported that around 1,500 fans of the 2,500 that initially travelled to Poland have remained behind to support the Three Lions.
