England captain Harry Kane insists that the Three Lions will be "aggressive and brave" at the 2018 World Cup.

England captain Harry Kane has said that the Three Lions will be "aggressive and brave" at the 2018 World Cup.

England, who have failed to reach the quarter-finals of a major tournament since 2006, will open their Group G campaign against Tunisia on June 18.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Kane has insisted that his team will not be "passive" at this summer's competition as they bid to make an impression in Russia.

"The aim is to be aggressive and brave in possession. We want to take this tournament head on," Kane told reporters. "There will be tough moments, and ups and downs.

"Sometimes going into a big tournament is about not losing and being passive but, for us, it's about playing attacking football. We are aiming to win the first game, then to target the second, and take that attitude to the World Cup."

England will also take on Panama and Belgium in the group stage of the World Cup.
