Sam Allardyce holds talks over vacant Everton job

Everton reportedly hold talks with former England and Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce over the prospect of taking over the reins at Goodison Park.

Everton have reportedly held talks with Sam Allardyce over the prospect of the former England boss becoming their next manager.

The Toffees have been searching for a new manager since sacking Ronald Koeman last month, with caretaker boss David Unsworth having taken charge of the club's last four matches.

Unsworth is also thought to be in the running for the job on a permanent basis, although with three defeats in a row prior to Sunday's last-gasp 3-2 victory over Watford he has failed to bring about a noticeable upturn in Everton's form.

Sky Sports News reports that Everton are now considering handing Allardyce the reins until the end of the season, having also approached a top European coach and Premier League manager in their search for Koeman's successor.

Allardyce has been out of work since leaving Crystal Palace in the summer, having previously spent just one game in charge of England before that.
