Seamus Coleman: 'Everton defenders must improve'

Everton defender Seamus Coleman admits that the team needs to improve as a unit to secure wins in the Premier League.

Seamus Coleman has admitted that Everton's defenders need to be "better as a unit" following draws in their opening two games of the new Premier League season.

The Toffees have led both matches in the top flight so far against Arsenal and Leicester City, but have been pegged back to draw 2-2 twice.

The 25-year-old told the Liverpool Echo: "We were cruising at 2-0 up [against Arsenal] and in the second half I think we've just sat back a bit too much and they've got one which has given them momentum. We need to do better as a unit to keep a clean sheet in the last five minutes.

"We know we can give anyone a game if we all click and get it right for the full 90 minutes. We're a top, top team and it's just a matter of doing that now.

"The manager will work with us to cut out those errors and like a top team we need to brush ourselves down and kick on again."

Everton face Chelsea next weekend.
