Everton to appeal the red card handed to Toffees midfielder Tim Cahill on Sunday.

Everton will appeal the red card handed to Toffees midfielder Tim Cahill in Sunday's 3-1 win over Newcastle United.

The 32-year-old was given his marching orders after an altercation with Magpies midfielder Yohan Cabaye at the end of Premier League encounter.

Cabaye has apologised for his role in the incident, which led to the Frenchman picking up a yellow card.

As it stands, Cahill will serve a three-match ban.
