Roberto Martinez: 'Seamus Coleman was incredible'

Everton manager Roberto Martinez praises Seamus Coleman after the defender's goal gave his side a 2-1 victory over Cardiff City on Saturday.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has praised Seamus Coleman's performance after he scored the winning goal against Cardiff City on Saturday.

The defender netted his seventh strike of the campaign to give the Toffees a late victory at Goodison Park.

"It is rare to have someone who can defend, be strong in one-v-one situations, cover the centre-backs and then have the stamina to get forward," Martinez told The Sun.

"Seamus has a clinical eye in front of goal, too, and it is quite difficult to find a better full-back than him. We want to see how far he can go. For Seamus to keep playing in those good positions to keep allowing him to score from open play is significant.

"It was an incredible performance from Seamus. He was all-action. He had to defend well at times but he got forward really well. To be able to be there in the 93rd minute tells you what type of player we have here at the club so I'm delighted for him."

Everton are currently sixth in the Premier League table.
