Johnny Heitinga: 'I could leave Everton'

Johnny Heitinga admits that he could be leaving Everton this summer.

Everton defender Johnny Heitinga has hinted that he could be on his way out of Goodison Park this summer.

The Dutch international is entering the final year of his contract with the Toffees, and it is believed that the Merseysiders may choose to cash in on him now rather than allow him to leave for free next year.

The 29-year-old, who was on the verge of a January move to Fenerbahce before Everton asked for more money, feels that he is close to the end of his time at Goodison Park.

"If they want to earn something for me, this is the moment," Heitinga told Voetbal International. "I have made no arrangement with the club about that.

"I will just wait and see what happens.

"Everton asked too much and the deal [with Fenerbahce] collapsed."

Heitinga joined Everton in September 2009.
