Everton striker Chris Long extends Brentford loan for playoffs

Chris Long will remain with Brentford for the Championship playoffs after Everton extended his loan in West London.

Everton striker Chris Long has extended his loan spell with Brentford so that he can participate in the upcoming Championship playoffs.

The 20-year-old was due to end his stay in West London after Saturday's 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic, but three points saw Brentford climb up to fifth in the Championship because of defeats for Ipswich Town and Derby County on the final day.

They are now gearing up for a two-legged semi-final against Middlesbrough and will advance to the playoff final at Wembley if they can get the better of the Teesside outfit.

Long has scored four goals in his 10 appearances for the Bees, but has not featured since the start of April due to injury and illness.

Everton have also allowed defender Gethin Jones to remain with Plymouth Argyle for the duration of League Two's playoffs.
