Roberto Martinez: "No substance" to Phil Jagielka rumour

There is "no substance" to the reports linking Everton skipper Phil Jagielka with a move to the Chinese Super League, according to manager Roberto Martinez.

Manager Roberto Martinez has rubbished the suggestion that Phil Jagielka may swap Everton for the Chinese Super League before the end of the month.

A recent report had claimed that the 33-year-old was the latest target for clubs in the cash-rich division.

However, Martinez has insisted that there is "no substance" in the speculation.

"It's another of those rumours. I'm sure that someone somewhere has come up with a story and people have been following that up," he told reporters.

"We are not in a position to lose any of our players. Phil Jagielka is our club captain and the last two games he has had a very good level. I can tell you that there is no substance whatsoever in that rumour."

Jagielka joined the Toffees from Sheffield United in 2007 and has gone on to make over 300 appearances for the Merseysiders.
