Vincenzo Montella says that Fiorentina should have held on to their 3-0 lead against Torino.

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has criticised his players for letting go of a three-goal lead against Torino in Serie A on Sunday.

The Viola were 3-0 up just after the half-hour mark but conceded three times, before Romulo struck a late winner for 4-3 victory.

"The team played with character," he told reporters. "Torino put in a great performance, as they came back from 3-0 down and could've scored the fourth, but we countered that reaction with one of our own.

"Compliments to Toro and a slap on the back of the head for us. I feared we could lose this game, but I wanted to win it.

"Torino scored some great goals, moved the ball around neatly and surprised us. We got a little scared after a while and, despite the fact these are experienced players, it can still happen. Fortunately we reacted."

Fiorentina are currently fourth in Serie A with 58 points from 33 matches.
