Celtic's Scottish Premiership home match against Dundee at Parkhead on Saturday is at risk of being postponed, a statement from the Hoops confirms.

Celtic's Scottish Premiership home match against Dundee at Parkhead on Saturday is at risk of being postponed, a statement from the Hoops confirms.

Red weather warnings have affected much of Scotland as Storm Eowyn sweeps across the country, but Brendan Rodgers and his first-team squad braved the elements at Lennoxtown during a training session on Friday.

The Scottish Premiership leaders are in high spirits after they secured their place in the Champions League last-16 playoffs courtesy of a narrow 1-0 win over Young Boys on Wednesday night.

Celtic have since turned their attention back to domestic duties and are bidding to climb 16 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a win over Dundee, who sit seventh in the table.

However, the Hoops have confirmed that their stadium has been damaged as a result of the severe weather conditions on Friday, and assessments are ongoing as to whether the match with Dundee is safe to go ahead.

Celtic vs. Dundee could be postponed due to stadium safety concerns

A statement released on Celtic's official website on Friday afternoon read: "Unfortunately today's severe weather conditions have caused some damage at Celtic Park.

"Our stadium and safety staff are currently unable to fully assess the extent of the damage due to the ongoing extreme conditions.

"In light of this and in order that we communicate fully and openly with our fans, in the interests of supporter safety, we are unable to confirm at this stage whether the match tomorrow between Celtic and Dundee (Jan 25) will be able to proceed.

"Of course, we will be doing all we can to ensure that it does.

"A full assessment and decision will be made as early as possible tomorrow morning (Saturday) and we will update our supporters as soon as we can.

"We thank our supporters sincerely for their understanding."

Celtic and Dundee faced each other just over a week ago at Dens Park where they played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in the top flight, with Arne Engels coming off the substitutes' bench to net a 93rd-minute equaliser.
