Fortuna Dusseldorf too strong for Stuttgart

Robbie Kruse scores twice for Fortuna Dusseldorf as they beat Stuttgart 3-1 at home.

Fortuna Dusseldorf have registered a 3-1 win against Stuttgart at home in the Bundesliga.

The home side could have taken the lead as early as the eighth minute had Robert Tesche's left-footed shot from inside the box not come off the post.

Two minutes later, though, Robbie Kruse put Dusseldorf ahead with a shot from close range and doubled his side's advantage on 37 minutes.

Christian Gentner halved the deficit for Stuttgart on the hour mark when he turned in Ibrahima Traore's cross from the centre of the box.

However, Stuttgart failed to build on that goal as Oliver Fink fired in from outside the box in the 76th minute to wrap up a 3-1 win for Dusseldorf.
