Former France boss Aime Jacquet has insisted that Germany are "not unbeatable" ahead of Thursday's Euro 2016 semi-final between the Blues and the world champions.

Jacquet, who led France to the 1998 World Cup on home soil, is expecting "a tight and tactical contest", but has backed his nation to triumph and set up a final meeting with either Portugal or Wales.

"They are our eternal rivals. They are a fearsome adversary, but not unbeatable. They have a generation coming to the end of its cycle and I hope that, with our new generation, we will be able to come through this test. It will be very difficult. I saw Germany against Italy and it was a tight and tactical contest," Jacquet told FIFA.com.

France boss Didier Deschamps was Jacquet's captain when Les Bleus triumphed in 1998.
