Fulham will be without goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer until the end of January because of a neck injury.

Fulham have confirmed that their goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer will be out of action for around six weeks with a neck injury.

The veteran Australian sustained the complaint during Fulham's 2-0 loss to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

"Following an assessment by a specialist consultant on Tuesday evening, the club can confirm that [Schwarzer] has sustained a compression injury to his thoracic spine and that he will be unavailable for four to six weeks," read a statement on the club's official website. "He is expected to return to play towards the end of January."

The keeper himself said on Twitter: "Thanks for your well wishes, I'm devastated to be out for 4-6 weeks. After speaking to the specialist, it was very clear I needed a rest."

The Whites have recalled David Stockdale from his season-long deal at Championship club Ipswich Town as cover.
