Fulham win the race to sign Valencia defender Martin Montoya on transfer deadline day, according to a report.

Fulham have reportedly won the race to sign Valencia defender Martin Montoya on transfer deadline day.

Southampton, Brighton & Hove Albion and the Cottagers have all been linked with the full-back over the last 24 hours, and it had been thought that the battle would go right to the wire.

However, according to Football Insider, Fulham have held off interest from their Premier League rivals to seal the 27-year-old's signature, and an announcement will be made on Thursday afternoon.

Montoya came through the youth system at Barcelona, and made 67 first-team appearances for the Spanish giants before joining Valencia in the summer of 2016.

Last term, the former Spain Under-23 international made 31 appearances for Los Che in all competitions.
