Preview: Genoa vs. Juventus

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Serie A clash between Genoa and Juventus.

Genoa will attempt to record their first Serie A win over Juventus since 2009 when they welcome the Italian champions on Wednesday.

In total, these two sides have met 94 times in the league, with Juventus winning 56 of those matches and losing just 18 times in the process.

In more recent history, Juventus have won six of the last 10 matches against Genoa, remaining unbeaten.

The home side will enter the match full of confidence, however, after taking seven points from their last three league games, with Saturday's 2-1 win over Chievo moving them into ninth position in the table.

Juventus might have lost their last two matches in the Champions League, but they have won seven of their eight league games this season, with a total of 22 points leaving them top of the table, three points clear of second-placed Roma.

The champions, who have scored 16 times in their eight games and conceded just three, will enter the match, meanwhile, off the back of a 2-0 win over Palermo on Sunday.

The home side have no fresh injury concerns from their clash with Chievo last time out, but on-loan AC Milan forward Alessandro Matri is pushing for a start after a goal and assist at the weekend.

Mauricio Pinilla should continue as the lone striker, while Diego Perotti will operate in a wide position, leaving Iago Falque on the bench once again.

Juventus, meanwhile, will be without the services of French defender Patrice Evra, who is expected to miss the next month of the season with a thigh problem.

As a result, Kwadwo Asamoah is expected to start at left wing-back, while Paul Pogba and Stephan Lichtsteiner are also expected to return to the XI after starting on the bench against Palermo.
