Bert van Marwijk looking forward to Hamburger SV challenge

Bert van Marwijk admits that the Hamburger SV job felt like the right one for him because of the challenge it poses.

New Hamburger SV coach Bert van Marwijk has admitted that it was the challenge of improving the side's fortunes rather than the club itself that attracted him to the job.

Van Marwijk took over on Monday from Thorsten Fink, who was fired after the side's poor start to the season, and he said that it felt like the right job for his return to management.

"I'm not here because of the great city or stadium. I'm here because of the task and challenge," Van Marwijk told Bundesliga.com. "I'm the kind of person who doesn't shy away from pressure. Every team needs pressure, but realistic pressure.

"Of course, the phone's been ringing, but the feeling had to be right. I don't need much information. It's about how I feel - at the club and with the people around me. That was the most important thing here."

The 61-year-old's last role was as coach of the Netherlands, which he left last summer.
