Scottish Championship roundup: Prolific Hearts extend lead at the top

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's Scottish Championship action as table-topping Hearts move three points clear of as Rangers, who are held to a draw.

Hearts have extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Championship to three points with a resounding 5-1 victory over Cowdenbeath at Tynecastle.

Billy King opened the scoring for the hosts in the first half before Calum Gallagher equalised against the run of play, but a goal apiece from Jamie Walker and Osman Sow, coupled with a Dale Carrick brace put the bottom club to the sword.

Second-placed Rangers lost ground on the Jambos after drawing 1-1 at Alloa Athletic, substitute David Templeton netting a late equaliser to cancel out Jonathan Tiffoney's opener.

Raith Rovers moved within a point of the Gers after defeating Livingston away from home, with Martin Scott scoring the only goal of that game in the 18th minute.

Hibernian's dismal start to the season continued as they slumped to a 1-0 loss at Queen of the South. Ian McShane secured the points for the hosts with a 29th-minute strike to move them up to fourth in the table.

Elsewhere, Falkirk and Dumbarton played out a 1-1 draw at Falkirk Stadium.
