Nigel Clough's side, who start the game in 13th, will be looking to put last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers behind them and move towards the business end of the league.
The 16th-placed visitors go into this one on a high following a string of impressive results, including that 1-0 win against Crystal Palace in midweek.
Derby have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game, with striker Theo Robinson expected to play a part after returning from illness.
Huddersfield are expected to name an unchanged side from the Palace victory, with the in-form James Vaughan leading the attack.
