Steve Bruce: 'Hull City didn't deserve defeat'

Hull City manager Steve Bruce insists that his side did not deserve to be beaten 2-0 by Southampton in the Premier League.

Steve Bruce has said that Hull City did not deserve their 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the Premier League this afternoon.

James Ward-Prowse opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Graziano Pelle doubled the lead, leaving Hull just outside the relegation zone.

The manager told BBC Sport: "It's a crazy game at times. We certainly didn't deserve, in my opinion, to get beat 2-0.

"We did enough to warrant getting something out of it. But we gave away a bad goal. It was a penalty. And we are where we are because of our inability to score goals.

"The one thing that did disappoint me was a yellow card for Graziano Pelle. I think it warranted a bit more than that. If the referee does see the forearm smash across Alex Bruce's face it's certainly a red card. But he's not given it for that."

The loss leaves them 17th in the table, with the three clubs below them still to play this weekend.
