Hull City fans urge owner Assem Allam to forget name change

Hull City fans urge owner Assem Allam to forget his plans to change the name of the club to Hull Tigers after the FA announced that they are against the proposal.

Hull City fans have called on owner Assem Allam to forget his plans to change the name of the Premier League club to Hull Tigers.

The Football Association have made a unanimous recommendation to the FA council to reject the club's proposal to change their name.

Hull, who will hold a poll for season ticket holders regarding the proposal, accused the English governing body of prejudice.

"We have said from the start, this has not been an anti-Allam campaign, and we have taken a lot of care to make sure it hasn't been," Sporting Life quotes City Till We Die spokesperson Mark Gretton as saying. "We are more than happy to work with them.

"In many ways, the Allams have been excellent owners of our club and whatever happens, we have a lot to be thankful to them for.

"If we can get a popular vote against the name change, we are not going to crow about it, we have no need to. Hopefully, he would just abandon the plan and we could say, 'Well done for being the bigger man'. We'd be delighted about that and we could start afresh."

Allam has threatened to sell the club if his proposal to change the name of the club is blocked.
