Tom Huddlestone relieved with Hull City victory

Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone admits that he breathed a huge sigh of relief after seeing his side secure a late winner in their clash against Queens Park Rangers.

Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone has admitted that he was relieved to see his side defeat Queens Park Rangers 2-1 in their Premier League clash this afternoon.

The Tigers took the lead at the KC Stadium through Nikica Jelavic, but the Hoops battled back before half time to level the scores as Charlie Austin found the net.

Steve Bruce's men pushed throughout the second half and eventually found a way through the 10 men of the visitors when Dame N'Doye fired in a winner in the 89th minute.

Huddlestone told BBC Sport: "We plugged away and plugged away, they could have caught us on the break a couple of times but thankfully we got the winner in the end.

"Since the City game the lads have been full of confidence, but we have got to beat the teams around us."

QPR were reduced to 10 men when captain Joey Barton was dismissed for lashing out at Huddlestone in the first half, but the midfielder feels that there was "no malice" in his opponent's actions.

He added: "It was one of these things. Everyone was saying a few bits, but probably Joey Barton has done a reaction people do dozens of time in the week in training, when there is no malice in it. But the referee was right there and he saw it."

Hull are now 15th in the Premier League table, four points clear of the relegation zone.
