Hull City launch a bid for South African striker Katlego Mphela, according to a report.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has reportedly launched a summer bid for South African striker Katlego Mphela.

Bruce has been linked with a string of strikers as he builds a Hull squad capable of competing in the Premier League.

After being frustrated in enquiries for Darren Bent, Gary Hooper and Ilombe Mboyo, the Tigers have launched a cut-price move form Mphela, according to The Mirror.

The 28-year-old has scored 46 goals in 110 games for Mamelodi Sundowns in his native country and has also represented the Bafana Bafana.

Mphela will reportedly cost around £1m, with Partizan Belgrade rivalling Hull for his signature.

Burnley forward Charlie Austin is also reportedly on the verge of a move to the KC Stadium, with Bruce still searching for further firepower for the new campaign.
