Celtic boss Ronny Deila hopeful of Virgil van Dijk stay

Celtic boss Ronny Deila is determined to keep defender Virgil van Dijk at the club.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila is hopeful that Virgil van Dijk will remain at the club indefinitely.

The Dutch defender has been linked with a summer move to a number of clubs, including Everton and Arsenal, but his coach is determined to keep him at Parkhead.

"He is going to be here. He is not going anywhere before the [Champions League] qualifiers," Deila told BBC Sport.

"Hopefully he is going to be here for a long, long time."

He added: "We want to improve, we want to keep our players and get new players in that can strengthen us. Consistency is so important in the way we play."

Celtic concluded their Scottish Premiership campaign with a 5-0 hammering of Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Sunday.
