Ipswich Town hold a 2-0 half-time lead against Championship promotion rivals Middlesbrough thanks to strikes from Daryl Murphy and Jay Tabb.

Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town lead fellow Championship high-flyers Middlesbrough 2-0 thanks to first-half goals from Daryl Murphy and Jay Tabb.

Ipswich threatened to open the scoring in the opening five minutes when Paul Anderson's free kick was headed narrowly over the top of goal by Tommy Smith.

Anderson then smashed a ferocious volley high and wide, before Jelle Vossen flashed a header from a Grant Leadbitter cross across the face of of Bartosz Bialkowski's goal.

The home side took the lead on 25 minutes when Teddy Bishop's precise through ball found Tabb, who crossed for David McGoldrick to shoot. Murphy was on hand to poke home the rebound after Dimitrios Konstantopoulos had made the initial save.

Tabb then doubled their lead with diving header from Bishop's cross on the stroke of half time.
