Ipswich Town's Freddie Sears doubtful for Leeds United clash

"A tight hamstring" may rule Ipswich Town striker Freddie Sears out of the clash against Leeds United, according to manager Mick McCarthy.

Mick McCarthy has revealed that he may have to make do without the services of Freddie Sears for Ipswich Town's trip to Leeds United tomorrow night.

The striker is Ipswich's leading goalscorer this term, having found the net four times in six outings.

However, McCarthy has admitted that the 25-year-old could miss out at Elland Road because of a hamstring complaint.

"Freddie's got a tight hamstring. We'll just have to wait and see how he is. He's the only one [that is a doubt]," the East Anglian Daily Times quotes the Ipswich boss as saying.

"Freddie's been exceptional, I'd be desperate to have him in the squad but what I won't do is risk him. We've plenty of games left so I wouldn't risk him at all."

McCarthy also confirmed that goalkeeper Dean Gerken would retain his place between the posts, despite the fact that he has conceded eight goals in his last two appearances for the Tractor Boys.
