Ipswich Town midfielder Carlos Edwards calls on his side to remain focused as they attempt to secure Championship survival.

Ipswich Town midfielder Carlos Edwards has called on his teammates to show "character" as they attempt to secure survival in the Championship.

The former Sunderland winger scored the winner in the 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers last weekend, but Ipswich remain just four points outside of the drop zone.

"We have eight games left to play and we know just how important each one will be," he told the club's official website. "The win over Bolton was massive for us and it means we will be heading into the next game with our heads held high, and it's important we hit the ground running after the international break.

"You could see how much the win meant to everyone by the celebrations and it's important we give a good account of ourselves from now until the end of the season, because we don't want to be going into the last game of the season needing a result.

"Hopefully the character we have shown recently will see us through and I think that the character and team spirit we have running throughout the squad will play a huge part for us."

Next up for Ipswich is a home clash with Leeds United on March 30.
