Frank Lampard is reportedly ruled out of contention for the vacant Ipswich Town managerial job due to a breakdown in talks with owner Marcus Evans.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is no longer being considered as a replacement for Mick McCarthy at Ipswich Town, according to a report.

The 39-year-old, who has no previous managerial experience, is rumoured to have already been interviewed by owner Marcus Evans.

Sky Sports News suggests that an agreement on terms could not be reached between the two parties, however, and Ipswich will now continue their search.

St Mirren boss Jack Ross and Paul Hurst of Shrewsbury Town are considered the two frontrunners for the vacant position at Portman Road.

Town have been without a manager since McCarthy stood down ahead of schedule last month, ending his five-and-a-half-year spell in Suffolk.
