Ipswich Town are reportedly interested in appointing Sunderland manager Chris Coleman as a replacement for Mick McCarthy.

Sunderland boss Chris Coleman has reportedly emerged as a managerial target for Ipswich Town.

Earlier this month, Mick McCarthy resigned from his position with the Tractor Boys and it has led the Championship side to start identifying possible replacements.

According to The Mirror, Coleman is regarded as a potential candidate, despite the Welshman having just been relegated to League One with Sunderland.

Performances on the pitch and the current uncertainty surrounding life behind the scenes at the North-East outfit has led to some supporters staying away from the Stadium of Light, and it has resulted in Coleman's future at the club being thrown into doubt.

Former Wales coach Coleman has won just five of his 28 matches in charge of the Black Cats, but Ipswich still see the 47-year-old as a high-profile appointment.

Chairman Marcus Evans has previously indicated that a new manager may not be named until the end of May.
