Preview: Istanbulspor vs. Kasimpasa - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Turkish Super Lig clash between Istanbulspor and Kasimpasa, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two sides at opposite ends of the Turkish Super Lig standings will face off at Bahcelievler Il Ozel Idare Stadium on Sunday afternoon when Istanbulspor host Kasimpasa.

The hosts head into this clash on the back of a seven-match winless streak while the visitors have also failed to win in three consecutive games.

Match preview

Istanbulspor are 13 points behind the nearest team and are currently stuck at the bottom of the Super Lig with a mere 13 points as the end of the season approaches.

After earning promotion in 2021-22, the Bulls finished in 12th place last season but their two-year stay in Super Lig is edging closer to an end this season.

However, Osman Zeki Korkmaz's side are still looking to pick up good results, but they could not hold onto their lead against ten-man Ankaragucu and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Istanbulspor had an extra man advantage since the 38th minute when Ertac Ozbir was sent off for Ankaragucu and they made it count as Florian Loshaj found the net to give them the lead eight minutes into first-half stoppage time.

However, they could not hold on for long as Christian Bassogog restored parity for Emre Belozoglu's side in the 53rd minute.

Next in line is a home game against Kasimpasa, a side that has beaten them in the last two encounters between them.

Meanwhile, Sunday's visitors also failed to take maximum advantage of slip-ups by the two teams ahead of them in the race for European qualification.

Third-place Trabzonspor and fourth-placed Besiktas lost their respective matches last weekend, but Kasimpasa could only see out a goalless draw against Sivasspor on home soil.

The Apaches are now winless in their last three league games and are six points behind the last two teams in the top four heading into the final 10 games of the season.

It has been a case of extreme opposites for Sami Ugurlu's side this season in terms of attack and defence.

While Kasimpasa have conceded 50 goals in 28 league matches, making their defence the third-worst in the Super Lig, only better than the bottom two, Istanbulspor (52) and Pendikspor (57); they have scored 48 goals, making their attack the third-best in the league, only behind the top two sides.

Team News

Istanbulspor have only one absentee ahead of Sunday's clash with Mehmet Yesil serving a one-match suspension due to accumulated yellow cards.

Emir Gultekin is expected to lead the line once again on Sunday, as he looks to add to his four league goals.

Mendy Mamadou and Jackson are the two players that should support the striker from the wings.

Kasimpasa will be without Dries Saddiki, who is out with a hamstring injury and no specific return date.

Turkish midfielder Erdem Cetinkaya remains a doubt and will have to pass a late fitness test to feature.

Istanbulspor possible starting lineup:
Arda; Erdogan, Yesil, Deli; Sambissa, Santos, Yasar, Loshaj; Mamadou, Gultekin, Jackson

Kasimpasa possible starting lineup:
Gianniotis; Winck, Ciftpinar, Ozcan, Omeruo; Guel, Kara; Fall, Hajradinovic, Caglayan; Da Costa

We say: Istanbulspor 1-2 Kasimpasa

Istanbulspor have struggled throughout this season and we expect this to continue until the end of this campaign. Kasimpasa will be confident of halting their winless run in this fixture given the state of their opponents and recent results in this encounter.
