Michael Laudrup confirms Japan interest

Michael Laudrup, who is currently in charge of Qatari side Lekhwiya SC, confirms that he has been approached by Japan over their vacant managerial position.

Michael Laudrup has revealed that he has been approached by Japan over their vacant managerial position.

The Dane is currently in charge of Qatari outfit Lekhwiya SC, who are preparing for the opening of their AFC Champions League campaign.

The 50-year-old has insisted that his immediate focus is on his current club, but has not ruled out the possibility of taking charge of Japan.

"In a week we will also start the group stage of the Champions League so there will be a lot of games in the near future," Laudrup told Kyodo News.

"I am aware of the interest from Japan but as I just said, we have a lot of games coming up and they have, absolutely, first priority at the moment. Then when the season finishes in May, I will think about my future. It could be here in Lekhwiya or somewhere else."

Laudrup took charge of Lekhwiya last June.
