Half-Time Report: Palermo keeping out Juventus

Juventus struggle against a stubborn Palermo defence in a goalless first half at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Juventus have failed to make a breakthrough in a goalless first half with Palermo at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Massimiliano Allegri's side were close to taking an early lead when Juan Cuadrado delivered a cross to cause problems for Stefano Sorrentino, but Mario Mandzukic was unable to add the finishing touch on the slide at the back post.

The visitors continued to dominate possession for much of the first half and they threatened again when Giorgio Chiellini headed wide from a corner.

Sloppy defending at the other end almost cost Juventus as a loose ball dropped to Alberto Gilardino, but his low strike drifted wide and evaded his teammates in the box.

Palermo remained vulnerable at the back, and another corner should have delivered the first goal when an unmarked Leonardo Bonucci sent his header wide of the target.
